Boxing Day +1 Race
We look forward to the return of the Cardiff Yacht Club Boxing Day +1 Race on Saturday, 27th December!
Entry is free and the race starts at 11:00am.
Byron handicaps will be used.
The course will be announced approximately 30 minutes before the start of the race on Channel M.

Macmillan Coffee Morning 2025
On Saturday, 6th December, a Macmillan Coffee Morning was held in the Clubhouse Bar & Restaurant and was a great success!
Dedicated club members organised, hosted, baked, attended, and enjoyed plenty of cake!
Thanks to their valuable efforts, we raised £335 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
New Years Day Pursuit Race 2026 - Colin Lyons Cup
Join us on Thursday, 1st January 2026, for our New Year’s Day Pursuit Race!
In response to the recent and very sad passing of Colin Lyons, we have dedicated this event to his loving memory, and named this and all subsequent New Year’s Day Pursuit Races the Colin Lyons Cup.
Colin Lyons was a lifelong member of Cardiff Bay Yacht Club. He represented his country in GP14s at the Commonwealth Games and also competed at the GP14 World Championships. In 1979, Colin took part in—and survived—the tragic Fastnet Race. He later went on to race performance cruisers and represented Wales in the Teacher’s Round Britain Race in 1995. Colin enjoyed many races in the Bristol Channel and spent many great events and happy times at Cardiff Bay Yacht Club.

Checkmate XV - Summer Adventures!
This year, Checkmate XV, owned by club member Phil Cook, competed in the Half Ton Cup 2025, held in Torquay.
She finished 7th overall, expertly crewed by Mark Lewis, Geoff Carter, Simon Gadsby, Gethin Gronow, Jack Preece, Owen Kinsella, and Phil Cook.
It was quite the adventure—from high, hard winds and missing sheets to the recovery of said sheets, epic racing after the winds eased, and some superb post-race socialising!
