Eric Twiname Junior Championships 2025

Hosted at Rutland Sailing Club, Ruland on 3-5th May 2025.

The Eric Twiname Junior Championships is the largest Junior Championships of the year with over 280 boats competing in the various classes. Optimists, RS Teras, Toppers, RS Fevas and ILCA 4s took to the water to take part in the event which included some new and different racing formats, with Short races being around 10 minutes long, Long races around 25 minutes long and a Marathon race aiming to be around 1 hour.

RYA Youth Nationals 2025

Hosted at Plas Heli, Pwllheli, the home of the Welsh National Sailing Academy on the week of 12 - 18th April 2025.

The RYA Youth Nationals is the UK's premier Youth sailing event, boasting a wide range of British Youth Sailing recognised classes; ILCA 6 & 7, 420, 29er, Nacra 15 and now even foiling classes. The results are used to select the British Youth Sailing Team, who will represent Great Britain at international regattas. This includes the Youth World Championships as well as the domestic youth squad for the year ahead.

IOCA Selections 2025

Hosted at Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy, Portland on 2-5th May 2025.

The IOCA Selections sees the top Optimist Sailors in the UK compete over 4 days to gain their place on an IOCA Team, with limited places per team the racing of the highest quality. These teams attend large international events such as the World Championships, European Championships, Irish Nationals and many others.

Summary

Correspondence

Future AGM voting mechanism to be reviewed.

ICC Assessment out to Training School.

Acknowledged that temporary disabled toilets could not be sourced during club refurbishment.

Hawk 20 now is use.

Actions carried forward

John Croft-Davies has become Vice President and Idris Dibble has become President.

No questions have been received in writing ahead of the AGM.

Commodore’s Review

The overflow car park is now back in use, and operational issues with the main gate are being addressed.

Operations Report 

The Bay is not designated as a ‘bathing area’, however, CBYC activities are not classed as ‘immersion sports.

YTD loss is £69k.

Building Project cost to date is £763k (net of VAT).

The Clubhouse bar & restaurant is on schedule to re-open on 26th April, with the toilets and changing rooms to completed in the following weeks.

No sign of boundary swap to take place in the immediate future.

Budget of £20k approved to replace RIB 5. Honda have submitted a replacement cost price of £22,650 (inclusive of VAT).

Activities 

Angling Section donated £205 to Velindre CCC.

A schedule of live music has been compiled throughout the year.

Training Secretary 

Safeguarding Officers identified as Matt Sayer and Claire Allen.

Membership Secretary 

All new prospective club members have been approved.

New Members Procedure flow chart presented.

AOB 

Noted that some boats in the Marina are looking unsightly, and not enhancing the reputation of the club. To be reviewed in the next meeting.

CBYC Easter Regatta 2025

Attention Junior Sailors! Join us on Saturday, 12th April for the Easter Regatta, marking the grand finale of our Winter Series.


Portishead Cruising Club Holms Race

Race registration will be required details of which can be found on Portishead Cruising Club website.

Many boats go up to Portishead Marina the night before to enjoy the merriment so prebooking is advised.


Summer Bank Holiday in Tenby

As the season draws to a close this was a popular weekend for the club (SWOG) attaching a flotilla of over ten boats.
