IOCA Nationals 2025
Weymouth and Portland National Sailing academy played host to the IOCA National Championships over the week of 26th July to 31st July.
The event had 243 entries over the 3 fleets and a range of international sailors coming to comptete against the British fleet.

CBYC Dragon Series 2025
Last Saturday, July 12th, CBYC hosted their leg of the South Wales Dragon Series. The series is hosted by South Wales clubs, allowing for newer sailors to get to some new and interesting venues to compete whilst giving regular sailors a chance to practice against local competition. The event saw 24 entries from a variety of South Wales clubs, across the 3 fleets, Training handicap, Junior Handicap and General Handicap. With light breeze for 3 races in the morning the afternoon was adapted to become paddle races once the wind had gone.

Welsh Open Topper Championships 2025
July 5th and 6th saw Llandegfedd Sailing Club host the Welsh Open Topper Championship and OnBoard Regatta. With great sunny conditions combined with some breeze there was fantastic racing had by all.

IOCA Early Summers 2025
Last Weekend, June 14/15th, Brightlingsea Sailing Club hosted the IOCA Early Summer Championships. As a part of the Optimist class' rolling ranking system, the event draws lots of competitors keen on improving their standings in the national ranking. Over 3 fleets there was a total of 124 boats attending.

Llandegfedd Dragon Series 2025
Last Saturday, May 24th, Llandegfedd Sailing Club hosted the second part of the South Wales Dragon Series. The forecast showed that it would be a cloudy day with a building wind. With the conditions in mind, the Training fleet were given their own course and were supported by the RYA CW coach throughout the day. All fleets managed to complete 5 great races.

Magic Marine and Hayling Island hosted an Optimist Open Meeting on May 10/11th 2025. With over 100 Optimists over the 3 fleets, there was fantastic racing had by all.

Tata Steel Dragon Series 2025
Last Saturday, May 10th, over 26 sailors took part in the first event of the South Wales Dragon Series at Tata Steel Sailing Club. The Dragon Series is a regional set of events hosted by Welsh clubs in their regions, providing sailors opportunities to race outside of their home club. For the South Wales series the clubs involved are; Tata Steel, Llandegfedd, Mumbles and Cardiff Bay. These events are supported by RYA Cymru Wales with the provision of a qualified coach in attendance to help and encourage those taking part in their first sailing event. With fantastic weather and wind, a total of 4 races were completed during the day for all the fleets.
