History of CBYC
Founded in 1932 as Penarth Motor Boat and Sailing Club, we became Cardiff Bay Yacht Club in 1999. Our club is located on the waterfront of Cardiff Bay.
It’s now one of Wales’ premier watersports clubs, offering an active Dinghy section for youth and adults, competitive Yachting and Sports-boat racing, a thriving Angling section, and a large Cruising section.
The Clubhouse, opened by H.R.H. Princess Anne in 1998, boasts two bars with stunning bay views. The Quarterdeck, with panoramic windows, hosts major social events and features a popular restaurant, while the cozy Quay Lounge offers a relaxed retreat.
The club also provides extensive mooring for 500 boats, slipways, a travel hoist for large vessels, and a vibrant social calendar. In 2004, CBYC was recognised as a British Youth Sailing Recognised Club for its excellence in training and activities.
