The last sail of the extended Frostbite series came up trumps in many ways. A good wind, but a bit shifty, sun and sailing the Hawk 20 for CCS with John and Kev, who are disabled, crewing. They had grins from ear to ear. Idris ran the race from the Hawk but laying two buoys from the Hawk was quite interesting!
We had a poor start, our able-bodied crew forgot to take the safety line off the genoa and it would unroll! But I managed to work our way through the fleet on the first lap and then Idris took over and after four laps we were the third boat to finish.
The downwind wind leg was interesting in the shifty conditions, with several involuntary gybes. Two broad reaches may have been a better option to keep the genoa filled. Also Cutty Stark managed to disable her crew and she retired hurt! Altogether an interesting sail!
The Summer series starts next Thursday and every boat will start with an updated CB Rating. The results of yesterday's race and the Frostbite series are in the blog file below. Congratulations to Koco who just pipped Billie-Anne for series honours on the last race.
